I mentioned in a previous post that things got a bit interesting for me at the end of our Volition presentation at Full Sail.  Jay Noble (Director of Alumni) had us all walk to the front of the stage and then invited Eric Champion (my Student Advisor) and Garry Jones (Full Sail President) to come on stage.

Then as a very special moment for me, they had Martin Woodlee (my cousin) on the phone, from his honeymoon no less, to announce that I've been selected for the 2011 Full Sail Hall of Fame.  Martin brought me to Full Sail originally and was a huge support for me during my time there.

To say I was shocked is an understatement.  Here is the certificate they had me read on stage..and I don't remember saying a word of it :)

I'm still very blown away by this, but since I've been asked so many questions about what this means...I've decided to do this post to give some details to everyone.  The video above is from the 2010 ceremony and does a great job of giving an overview of what being selected for the Hall of Fame means and what the criteria for being selected are.

This is the third year that Full Sail has had Hall of Fame inductions and they chose 6 people each year across all of the degree programs at the school. A list of the 16 degree programs available can be found here.  They also create a display in one of the main buildings that shows the inductees along with some memorabilia from their careers.

As for the actual Induction Ceremony, that will be held the first weekend in November 2011 at Full Sail.  Here's a LINK that provides a great overview of what the ceremony was like for the 2010 Induction.  Festivities also include a concert performance which was Mute Math last year (one of my favorites).

Anyway, I hope this answers a lot of the questions that I've been getting.  Feel free to contact me if you would like to know anything else :)

You're literally the only person I know who said "I have a dream to do this" and made (underline "made") it happen. Congrats, my friend, you deserve it.

It is amazing to see your hard work over the past ten years in the gaming industry highlighted and recognized. It is also an inspiring reminder to the upcoming developers going through Full Sail that they can accomplish everything you have and possibly more whenever they walk pass your spot on the wall.

    Thank you and congratulations,
    John
