My 360 arrived today from being repaired at Microsoft...

So far so good, but we'll see how it goes once my son starts playing daily again :)

Kian looked at the header to my blog and said:

"Daddy and Kian go pick up movies and get ice cream"

LOL

Leaders...that aren't.

I've been realizing lately that as people continue to get more work history under their belt and want to advance in their career...that in our industry it almost ALWAYS means becoming a lead of a discipline on your team. The thing that I'm starting to see as the problem with this...is that a lot of these people aren't leaders.

Being a leader requires a certain skill set that goes way above being a good artist, designer, or any discipline in any industry for that matter. Just becuase you've been at a company for several years and want to get a higher salary...shouldn't mean you have to do soemthing you're not skilled at does it?

Maybe that's just how our industry works...

I want my 360!

I got an email from Microsoft today saying that my 360 arrived there for repair. So i'm looking at about 1-2 more weeks before I have it in hand.

On the bright side...i've actually been playing my Wii! I downloaded My Life as King a few days ago..and have REALLY been enjoying that.
I've been telling Kian that i'm off to bring home the bacon when I leave for work, so he created a new song that he sings about it now.

I asked him today what daddy does when he goes to work? Bring home the bacon...
But what do i do there? do I make video games? No...you make bacon

doh! sometimes I forget how literal kids take things at his age.

Livermore Games

We spent the afternoon today at the Scottish Games today here in Livermore.

I had my first cornish hen (since they were out of turkey legs), Sarah had fish and chips and Kian was groovin to the Celtic Singers while he ate his chicken nuggets. Why is what we ate the first thing I thought to mention? sigh

We watched some shepard dogs wrangling sheep and some knights on horseback doing games of skill.

After that...Kian spent the rest of the time in the giant blow up bouncy houses :)

Red Ring of Death

Yup...it finally happened.

I was home sick the last two days and decided to turn on my 360 to watch some family guy episodes. Low and Behold...I get the red rings of death and my 360 is no more.

On one hand I'm sad that I won't have it for 3-4 weeks...but on the other hand I'm glad it happened before the 3 year extended warranty ran out.

Here's hoping I get back a unit with HDMI :)

"Uh Oh!"

Posted by Unknown
So I was walking to the restroom at work the other day and as I turned the corner a guy I know was a few steps behind me.

He says "I'm following you!"

As I open the door to the restroom, I say "uh oh" to him.

Then someone from one of the stalls in the restroom yells out "UH OH!"

Then total silence... I thought I would die laughing after I left the room.
Kian turns 4 tomorrow and this past weekend he did something that I thought would take at least another year. He beat me at Wii Bowling...twice.

Allergies

Well, turns out I have allergies. I've been sick for the last month and the doc figured it to be allergies. I'm on a nose spray and a daily pill...and I'm starting to feel like a new man!

Modern medicine never ceases to amaze me.

I hate living so far from work...

My wife just calls and says my son is having severe stomach pains and he has to go to the ER.

I'm stuck so far away that I can't even get there in the next hour. Since it's rush hour...it will be more like 2 hours if I leave now.

I hate the bay area (really I do)

EDIT: He's ok :)

Savage gets extension

I'm a huge Phil Savage supporter...so good for us!

I attribute more of the Browns turnaround to him than any other single person.

GTA IV

yup...I did it. I am playing my first GTA game and am really enjoying it. I can't say much for the single player experience yet, but a group of guys from work are getting together almost nightly to play multiplayer and are having a blast.

We tend to play free mode and just do whatever we want. Josh and I jumped in a airport baggage truck and drove around town while he shot at cops. It became a game of us trying to stay alive as long as possible and we were laughing the whole time.

The thing I like most is that they focused in the things that matter and didn't care about little bugs or details that cause some studios (ahem) to do extra work or cut the features entirely. It's all about the gameplay baby!
