I'm in complete shock.

The Texans have the first pick, and have elected to sign Defensive End Mario Williams, and will make him the first pick tomorrow morning.

I'm not shocked that they didn't take Reggie Bush, but i'm very shocked that they didn't trade the pick if they weren't going to draft him.

They could have probably gotten a couple of extra picks and still gotten Williams.

BUT! that aside, i think this was a great move for their organization. I'm happy to see that they realized they have much more pressing needs than RB, and a player like Williams can make that defense much better instantly

I'm still in shock tho.

No Tutorial = Fast Learning?!

I experienced something last night that altered my view on tutorials a bit.

When I loaded up BF2 on the 360 for the first time, I started in the campaign mode as I normally do with a new game. I expected the first mission to be a full on tutorial that would teach me to play the game.

To my surprise, it told me my objectives and then placed me in the world. No teaching. I was forced to experiment with the controls and figure out how to play the game on my own. I thought this would be frustrating at first, but quickly realized that since I was forced to figure the things out on my own...I was becoming comfortable with the controls easier.

The level was VERY forgiving and gave me plenty of time to figure things out while I took very little damage from the enemies. They mainly focused on my allies until I was comfortable enough to attack them and start dwindling their numbers.

In the end, I found that I played more levels of this game in my first outing than I EVER have in a first person shooter.

I think tutorials with complex control schemes are a bit intimidating to me, and when I'm taught every little detail I feel that I have to learn them all to be successful. With this method, I learn to use things as I need them and I can play at my own pace.

I was playing Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on the 360 last night, and was having trouble picking out the enemies on the maps.

I got frustrated in the first sniper mission, so I decided to quit out and try later. I looked through the options and found a Color Blind Hud and turned it on.

Two minutes into the map I achieved the Marksman Achievement.

I can't tell you what the difference is between the two HUDs...but it definately helped me whatever it was.

Partypoker

I've been playing at pokerroom.com for close to 2 years now, but recently have decided to move to partypoker.com

I purchased the Poker Academy Pro 2.5 software, and i'm really impressed with it.

It allows you to download hand history from partypoker.com and evaluates how you played.

So, the move to partypoker was an essential one.
When I originally got my 360, I would run a 50ft cat5 cable to the bedroom when I wanted to connect to Xbox Live.

I soon realized that I didn't have as much desire to play my 360 because of having to do this. So, i finally broke down and bought the wireless adapter.

Just this small change has made my 360 experience much more enjoyable.
